Ruby paws4people honor puppy
White Paw with Bright Blue Background

Our next tribute puppy, donated by Project 2 Heal, will be named RUBY in honor of Staff Sergeant Kenneth Rubenstein enlisted in the U.S. Army Air Force in February 1942. After attending Radio School at Scott Field in Illinois, he was sent to Europe. After arriving in North Africa, he was assigned to several Bombardment Squadrons during WWII. Honorably discharged in 1945, Staff Sergeant became employed by the State of West Virginia with various positions in the Department of Public Institutions (currently the Division of Corrections). At the time of his death, March 19th 1974, he was the Superintendent at the Davis Center (Juvenile Detention Center). Mr. Rubenstein is the father of the West Virginia Division of Corrections Commissioner Jim Rubenstein. SSgt Kenneth Rubenstein is fondly remembered by many whose lives that he touched for his love for his country, community and family. We are proud to honor his memory with RUBY’s future service.

RUBY is an Assistance Dog for paws4people Client, Mason Ponnett.
