We are excited to announce that our newest Tribute Puppy and Assistance Dog In-Training, EMBER’s little boy, has been named GARNER! GARNER is named in honor and in memory of Eddie V. Garner, Jr. Eddie was a U.S. Air Force veteran and a dedicated career Firefighter and public servant. His last duty station was with Boiling Spring Lakes Fire Rescue (BSLFR) where he served as Assistant Chief, Safety Officer and best friend to all. In his early days he was a firefighter with Carolina Beach FD and served with the New Hanover Volunteer Rescue Squad. He worked with the Wilmington FD from 1974 – 1993, where he served as a firefighter, EMT-Intermediate and was an engineer at the time of his retirement. Eddie was an instructor, teaching several Fire, Rescue and Haz-Mat classes and he trained many of the New Hanover and Brunswick County Firefighters that are in service today. He is truly missed by his family and BSLFR. Eddie’s son, Scott Garner, carries on his father’s legacy of serving others as the Deputy Director of Emergency Services for Brunswick County just as GARNER will carry on Eddie’s legacy of caring and dedication to helping others. Please welcome GARNER to our ever growing family and thank you Eddie for your many years of service to our country and our community!
