Our next Tribute Puppy is named in honor of the brother of Celeste Champion Miller, paws4people Deputy Operations Officer. 1SGT John R. “Champ” Champion, Jr., USA (ret.) 1SGT Champion spent 10 years with the 82nd Airborne Division and 11 years serving as a Special Forces operator. His combat tours included Iraq, Afghanistan, Haiti, Rwanda, Darfur, Bosnia and Kosovo. He served in OIF, OEF and Desert Storm. His medals and awards were numerous including the Bronze Star with “V” device for actions in combat while in Afghanistan. Upon retirement, he spent 2 years with the US Government working with Project H.O.P.E in Africa. Sadly, Champ lost his battle with PTS on July 6, 2009. In his memory this puppy will be named CHAMPION, called CHAMP.
