As a student at UNCW, Madison completed the Assistance Dog Training Program, receiving a Minor in Assistance Dog Training. While in the program, she saw firsthand the impact the dogs were making in their clients’ lives! Upon graduating, Madison quickly realized just how much of a benefit the dogs provided to her, as well. Madison often overbooks her days to avoid having time alone with her thoughts. She struggles in crowds due to hypervigilance and tends to avoid places in order to prevent anxiety from overcoming her. While Madison has made great progress, she believes that having a Service Dog will allow her to have a much more fulfilling life.
Madison and OLIVER became a team in 2025! OLIVER will help Madison by anchoring to her anxiety and paying attention in crowded places, helping to minimize her startle response. OLIVER will also interrupt negative behaviors and provide deep pressure therapy to help lower cortisol levels. These two have a bright future together, and we can’t wait to see the amazing things they accomplish together!
