About

While Kelly was a student at UNCW, she completed the paws4people Assistance Dog Training Program. Upon graduating, Kelly knew she wanted to incorporate a Facility Dog into her career as a Certified Therapeutic Recreation Specialist. Kelly works with at-risk youth in a residential setting, one thing they all have in common is the personal challenges they are experiencing. A Facility Dog is able to help Kelly’s clients as they work toward various goals, and will also improve their overall experience during treatment.

At the Boys and Girls Homes of North Carolina, SCHALL participates in Recreation Therapy groups. She can support residents in practicing social skills, utilizing flexible thinking, and learning about new leisure opportunities. She encourages them to work toward goals, keep them engaged, and help reduce their anxiety levels.

SCHALL is an Honor Puppy named in honor of James E. Schall Jr.
