Captain Eric Moon is employed with the City of Wilmington Fire Department. After spending some time getting to know HEART, another Facility Dog with Wilmington Fire on A shift, Eric knew he wanted to be involved when the department added a dog to his B-shift rotation.
AXEL is an easy-going and loveable Lab who brings a smile to everyone’s face! He and Eric will work to advocate for positive mental health initiatives within the department, will help reduce anxiety in the high-stress work environment, provide comfort and support to other firefighters who are processing the outcome of difficult calls, and also help others in the community if they are affected by difficult or traumatic situations.
