Maria served as an Active Duty commissioned officer for 5 years. After a series of traumatic events involving another servicemember, Maria was diagnosed with MST-induced PTSD, anxiety and depression. She finds herself remaining hypervigilant, has trouble sleeping at night, and feels stressed and anxious throughout the day. While Maria’s support system and treatment team are a great help to her, they can only do so much. Maria believes having a Service Dog will be the encouragement she needs to return to an outgoing, healthy life!
Maria and JET are a fabulous team! JET walks beside Maria every day as a constant reminder that she is not alone, and they are in this together! He helps by anchoring Maria’s anxieties, interrupting negative behaviors, and paying attention in public places. JET also provides deep pressure therapy to help Maria during heightened stress events. Having JET by her side gives Maria the confidence she has been lacking, allowing her to be her best self and reclaim who she used to be!
