MSgt Steve Gagnon, USMC (ret.) & SILER

“I’m not sure where to begin.  It seems like my world has been flipped upside down and now there’s a void.  I’ve had to say goodbye to my best friend, he was not only a service dog, but he was also the dog everyone dreamed of having.  SILER passed away on Dec 29^th, I held him close to me as he took his last breath.  That was the promise I made to him when we were first paired together.  It was one of the most difficult goodbyes I’ve ever experienced.
SILER was my best friend; he was always so happy especially if he was always next to you even if it was in the bathroom.  He had a contagious personality that brought a smile to everyone’s face.  I always enjoyed playing games with him and watching him get zoomies.  His favorite toy was a Frisbee and SILER used to always like it when I tagged him on his back pants.  SILER’s ability to watch over my family was truly amazing.   He could tell if you were having a bad day, then he’d bury his head into your lap. 
Words cannot express how grateful I am for paws4people, they blessed me by placing this God sent miracle into my life 8 years ago.  SILER was a hero to me, he saved me from survivor’s guilt along with depression and anxiety.  One of SILER’s biggest accomplishments was that he assisted with reuniting my family back together.
I will cherish the happy memories we shared together as a family.  I miss you so much but know that you will never be forgotten.   Rest easy sweet SI and know that you did your job well.
