Our next Tribute Puppy will be named OPAL, in loving memory of Sanders Burney. Sanders was a spitfire – wild, spunky, and fearless from day one. She had a huge personality packed into a little frame and a stubborn streak to match; once she set her mind on something, there was no talking her out of it. One of her very favorite things was raiding her grandmother’s opal jewelry for dress up, draping herself head to toe in every shimmering piece she could find and parading around like she owned the place. She adored animals and was forever announcing she would grow up to be a veterinarian, certain she would care for any creature that crossed her path. Sanders left us far too soon, in middle school, but her spark never faded for anyone lucky enough to know her. We chose the name OPAL so a little of her sparkle keeps shining – bold, bright, and one of a kind.
