Tami is a dedicated nurse and graduate of UNCW, where she also completed the Assistance Dog Training Program. Her passion for helping others, combined with her own life experiences, has given her a deep appreciation for the support service dogs can provide.
After facing several traumatic events in early adulthood, Tami developed PTSD, anxiety, and depression. These challenges affect her daily life through heightened anxiety, hyper-vigilance, and trauma-related nightmares. Causing Tami to lack trust in individuals, be unable to let her guard down and go through each day in survival mode.
In early 2026, Tami met BLANTON, who she believes will become an important part of her healing journey. BLANTON will help her navigate crowded environments by paying attention, interrupt negative behaviors, wake her from nightmares, and provide deep pressure during periods of anxiety.
To Tami, BLANTON represents more than a service dog — she represents hope, healing, and a renewed sense of stability and independence.
