Kelly is a former commercial airline pilot who is diagnosed with Trigeminal Neuralgia, a chronic pain condition involving shooting pain in her head, eyes, ears and teeth. While Kelly takes medication to help with the side effects of her TN, they leave her feeling tired, foggy and sometimes dizzy. Kelly admits the pain can be exquisite, and hard to deal with, but believes that having an Assistance Dog will help provide her with assistance and comfort during flare ups.
CAROLINA is a beautiful Lab who bumped with Kelly in February 2021, and they became fast friends! CAROLINA will help Kelly by retrieving small items and medication for her as she needs them and will brace as she transitions from sitting to standing. She will also anchor and provide deep pressure therapy to help with the anxiety that comes secondary to the pain she experiences. CAROLINA will give Kelly the comfort and assistance she needs to help her live a happier, more fulfilling life!
CAROLINA was named by Loudoun Country Day School.
