Zack spent 6 years active duty with the US Army, as a Military Police officer. While serving, he was a MWD handler, and deployed to Iraq, where he was always on high alert for incoming IEDs. As a result, he is diagnosed with PTSD. Zack experiences heightened anxiety, struggles with depression and feelings of survivor’s guilt, and often lacks the motivation and energy to leave his home and interact with society. Zack is familiar with the benefits having a working dog can bring to one’s life, and believes a Service Dog will help him lessen the struggles of day to day life.
BENTLEY met Zack and knew right away he had found his person! He will help Zack by alerting to rising panic, and anchoring to his anxiety. BENTLEY will also pay attention when out in public, helping to cut down on Zack’s hypervigilance, and allowing him to focus on the task at hand, while remaining present in the moment. Together, this team will do great things, and we are happy to have them as part of our paws4people family!
