Montgomerie was diagnosed with C-PTSD in college, having already suffered from Major Depression and Generalized Anxiety all of her life. As she began to understand her diagnosis, she took the step to cut contact with her family. That separation, combined with a traumatic incident in 2024, brought the repressed traumas flooding to the surface. Suddenly, she had to contend with memories that she didn’t want from a lifetime of neglect and physical, sexual, and emotional abuse. The nightmares that she’d always experienced became more intense and more real, and she often finds herself struggling to leave the house. Discovering Paws4People has given her hope that she can return to normalcy and independence with a Service dog!
Monty bumped with EMILY in August 2026! EMILY is a loveable Labrador Retriever who assists Monty to navigate daily life by providing deep pressure therapy, paying attention to her surroundings, and interrupting negative behaviors. Together this team is doing great things!
