Amanda Ivancevich

My name is Amanda and I am blessed to be the first child selected to receive a service dog from paws4people. I had a stroke before I was born that resulted in cerebral palsey and a seizure disorder called Infantile Spasms. At 17 months old I had the left hemisphere of my brain functionally removed in order to stop the 100+ seizures I was having on a daily basis. I had a shunt put in a month later. A couple of years ago my seizures came back but they are fairly well controlled with the addition of a VNS device that helps keep my brainwaves stable. ELLIE is my best friend and she helps me in so many ways. She can detect my seizures before they happen, get the phone and my medicines in case of an emergency, help me to stand and walk, retrieve things for me, play with me, and even take off my socks. She watches over me and puts up with all of my antics. She also loves to take naps with me. She goes everywhere I go and I can not imagine life without her. She motivates me to walk faster, longer, further and helps encourage me to learn new skills. ELLIE is the best!! Thank you paws4people!!!
