About

Alex is a bright and charming college student majoring in Math at Fairmont State University. He was born prematurely and has cerebral palsy from the stress he endured during his mother’s labor. Due to his cerebral palsy, Alex’s muscles do not function the way they are supposed to which leaves him unable to walk, unable to use writing utensils and unable to feed himself. Despite these limitations, Alex is excelling in college and is maintaining a 4.0 GPA, thanks in part to his best friend and partner KINGSLEY. The two met at Alex’s bump on July 7th, 2011. While some of the other dogs that Alex met weren’t quite sure about his wheelchair, KINGSLEY didn’t hesitate at all to hop up and give him lots of kisses. KINGSLEY also picked up immediately on the different pitch and tone of Alex’s voice and easily followed his commands!

KINGSLEY is invaluable to Alex and helps him achieve more independence in a number of ways. He picks up items that Alex drops and gives them to him. He presses the buttons for automatic doors, tugs on a rope to open doors, turns lights on and off and even serves as an ambassador to meeting new people. It is truly amazing to watch these two together on campus, at the mall or at home cuddling. This pair is inseparable and Alex can’t wait to see what the two of them accomplish in their journey together.
