Buy A Service Dog?
Buy A Service Dog?
GOOD NEWS & BAD NEWS
paws4people foundation places as many service dogs for free as possible. These dogs are valued at over $35,000 each and the process for selection and training may take up to three years. Click here to start that process.
However, due to the many inquiries of people wishing to expedite their process, or who need a companion dog or a specially trained dog (like medical alert), we have teamed with a training company which has collaborated with us to create a training protocol to train people’s privately owned dogs, or find and train a dog specifically for you.
We often get asked “Can I buy a service dog?”
And the answer is no. The main reason is that service dogs must be trained to perform specific tasks to mitigate the owners challenges. Each service dog is trained to respond to an individual.
There are many people who need a Service Dog for Post Traumatic Stress, Seizure Alert, Hearing Assistance or for children with disabilities who do not want to wait the three plus years it takes for a non profit to provide a dog – if they even make the list for a dog!
PAWS Training Centers can absolutely help you find the right dog and train it (and you) in ways that will change your life in amazing ways. They can also train your personal dog if it meets the minimum standards
Once your dog is trained – paws4people foundation will work with you to ensure your dog is properly certified and insured.
Although you can’t buy a service dog, you can utilize PAWS Training Centers and their top notch trainers to bring a service dog into your home!
