Community Dogs

Community Dogs are generally obtained from a shelter as part KTI’s Shelter/Rescue Program. These dogs are trained to perform at the intermediate obedience level or to the highest level of training possible for the dog to obtain.

A KTI Community Dog [CD] receives within a pKTI K-9 Training Program/Venue:

a MINIMUM of 120 hours of General Obedience Training, over a period of at least 3 months, and,

a MINIMUM of 30 hours of “socialization” Training, over a period of at least 3 month, and,

When Community Dogs complete their course of training they are either; privately placed with spouseless seniors to provide life-enhancing companionship, or, returned to the shelter from which they came to become eligible for adoption. This training significantly increases the dog’s chance of being permanently adopted. This significantly reduces the possibility of the dog being euthanized.
