Our Trip To Wilmington (Neal & Piper)

Well it’s been a couple days since the great reunion / graduation: I’m writing to let everyone know how things have been. Even though we had a lot of noise and a large crowd I made it through the event which is very unusual for me. Initially I felt I was going to scream, it was very hard to sit in the back of the room with everything ┬áinside me telling me to run, but I managed to stay the entire event. I wore poor old Piper out apparently, the dog slept the entire trip home, rest of the evening, overnight and all day Monday, late Monday afternoon and woke up for a couple hours and then went back to bed and he is sleeping now as I try to write this blog. Just to tell you how my PTSD affects me, last night I could hardly keep my plate still, my hand shaking like a 7.0 earthquake, as usual It will probably take about a week for my body to settle down to what is now normal. I will be Ok, but the truth is I don’t think I would have missed this gathering for anything, it was great, the people their stories the dogs. While sitting I noticed my wife doing all she could to hold back tears and best of all Piper graduated. Mr. Henry is correct, Paws4People is a true family the caring it is unbelievable. I truly hope that when my PTSD gets better I can help the family, maybe I can help with training the dogs or doing more talks about this monster they call PTSD.

I would like to say a sincere thank you to Mr. Henry and the foundation.

Neal, it was so good to meet you, Becky and PIPER. I know this past weekend was hard for you and I’m so happy to hear that you are glad that you did it. I know that having you and PIPER there was a comfort to Jeff. Congratulations to you and PIPER – you are a great team and together you will learn to manage your PTSD.

This is a great story! I read your other blog and I’m glad that PIPER was able to help you out so much. It is amazing what service dogs can do. Good luck with everything in the future :)

I enjoyed reading about your trip to Wilmington! I’m so glad that you were able to attend the graduation/reunion, and I’m also so proud of what a huge accomplishment it was for you! I agree that Paws4People is truly an incredible organization and I hope that you are able to accomplish everything you hope to accomplish being apart of the p4p family!
