Puppies have arrived

Hi All!

Terry, Allison, Briana, & Mrs. Dowd did a wonderful (and patient) job getting the puppies here safe & sound. All 6 are here, happy, and healthy for the time being. 2 girls & 4 boys!

To answer a few questions I’ve gotten:
What will these litter naming theme be?
We have decided to name puppies with themes based on the mama. CLAIRE’s puppies will have military names again, like her first litter did.

Why don’t you name them now?
Puppies are very, very fragile and helpless when they are born. As many of you know, we go above and beyond and are a bit ridiculous as far as keeping them safe and healthy. If you’ve had the chance to come puppy pet, you know I make you scrub up like you’re performing surgery. Well, puppies are the most fragile their first two weeks, so we don’t assign them a name until they are hearty at two weeks.

Here is the first puppy pic…stay tuned!

So happy that the pups are here and Mom and babies are all well. Great photo! Since they are going to have military names – how about Carson for Fort Carson in Colorado where Jeff was stationed?

This is such a precious picture! I’m just curious after watching that video in class, will Terry and everyone make it a point to handle the puppies a lot (after scrubbing up, of course!) to get them used to humans and their own personal scents, as some of the people did in the film? Is that really even normal? I can remember when I was in elementary school and my chow had puppies she was VERY protective of them and for some unknown reason my father was the only one who could get close to her and them without a ferocious growl. Perhaps my dog was just overly aggressive…?

I’m really happy that the puppies made it out and are doing well! All the pups and Claire look wonderful! I also think that it’s good that you give them names two weeks after they are born, to ensure that they are hearty and healthy! be sure to come up with some great names! :D

Its good to see that all of the puppies made the trip and seem to be healthy. They all look like they have potential to be good service dogs. The military names should turn out pretty cool, but don’t be scared to ask for a census through a blog.
